16 Points: The Fastest Route to Max

Taking 7 days off work, giving me a total of 11 days to plan everything out. The goal is to make the most of the time and optimize the leveling order across the Druid and alts.

Route 1

  • Nov 5–13
    • Druid 1–60
    • Skin everything killed while leveling for Leatherworking
    • Put all points earned into Thrill of Adventure
  • Nov 14 – Dec 1 (buffer period)
    • If the Druid isn't finished during the time off, finish leveling here. If it is already finished, use the time to start the alt wave (see below) and push Leatherworking toward 300.
  • Dec 2–8: Pre-BiS
    • Respec the Druid into raid perks, if respeccing is reasonably affordable. Good choices are Gourmand, Permanence, and, if I can access it, Reagent Economy (Druid buffs require reagents).
  • Dec 9: Onyxia
    • This gives +1 point, bringing the total to 7.

Alts – Wave 1

Level 4 alts to 25. Give each of them two crafting professions and level them to 150. This happens naturally around levels 20–30, and the Druid's gold can be used to buy materials from the Auction House.

AltProfessionsPoints
25 WarriorBlacksmithing + Mining2
25 PaladinEngineering + Mining2
25 HunterAlchemy + Herbalism2
25 WarlockTailoring + Herbalism2
25 RogueMining + Herbalism1

This gives 9 points. Combined with the Druid's 7, that's 16 points, which is the maximum.

Expect roughly 40–50 hours total.

You could level Alt 1 straight to 60 instead, but you'd get the same number of points over roughly 100 hours instead of 50. The alt wave isn't extra work, since these alts are going to 60 anyway. You're simply changing the order.

Alts – Wave 2 (25→60)

Legacy15 / 16 points
Professions0
Adventure15
Resourcefulness0

plus 1 point left over.

Rested rotation: Keep 3–4 alts in the 30–60 range active at the same time. Play whichever one has full rested XP, log out at an inn, and switch to the next one. The rested XP cap is based on your current level, so this rotation becomes more effective at higher levels. This is why having all four Wave 1 alts sitting at level 25 at the same time works perfectly.

The remaining 4 alts (1→60): Level these last. They start with all 16 points from the beginning, meaning they get five additional talent points as early as level 5.

Free points along the way (if they fit)

  • Dungeons for levels 15–25. If the alts happen to run some dungeons, they can pick up the bracket. It's unclear whether the kills are tracked per character or per account.
  • Field of Honor. The weekly quests appear to be time-gated. If you do some BGs each week on one of your characters, the points will accumulate automatically.
